Shave it the same as you shave your legs/underarms. Use a new, clean razor and cream. Moisturise after with a sensitive skin lotion. It's safe as long as you are careful and take your time. Cutting yourself would, I imagine, sting a LOT. I shave mine every few days because I hate feeling hairy down there.

It will make a mess of your tub and it will probably make your razor dull and clogged with oil and stuff so dont even try to use it again. In fact try using one razor for half the job and a second for the other half. You will get bumps if it isnt sharp and cutting properly.
